When I was growing up nothing was more fun then going to grandmas house, not only did I love my grandma, but also her secret cake/ sweets stash. With both parents working full time dinner was usually a takeaway on speed dial. Middle-school thru high school McDonald's and Wendy's competed for my attention. After graduating high school I was determined to change my eating. I watched a video on PETA about the inhumane care and slaughter of animals and became a vegetarian dismissing meat cold turkey as it were. Within two years I was Vegan, after discovering factory dairy farms were not much better then slaughter houses. Through this process I went from 174 to 136 which on my 5 foot nothing frame was amazing. Going vegetarian and even vegan made me rely on soy products and processed meat substitutes, which when looked at nutritionally are not very healthy. Within the past 2 weeks I have reconsidered my decision to be vegan and instead choose to support the local ONLY farmers for my dairy needs. Anyway I have finally come to my senses and realized how even a vegetarian diet when executed poorly is not altogether healthy. While not a chef by ANY means, frankly quite the opposite I will attempt to prepare HEALTHY vegetarian meals without relying on overly processed foods. If you know of any healthy recipes or can correct mine PLEASE let me know. Maybe we can have some small impact on the American diet. :)
